I’ve been using the Shure SM7B for my recordings and streams, but setting it up every time became a hassle. I needed something portable, easy to use, and reliable. That’s when I discovered the Neewer CM28, I was searching for cheap mics on Amazon and this one had great reviews so I took the plunge.

When the Neewer CM28 arrived, I was immediately impressed with the packaging. Here’s what you get inside:

First Impressions
Design and Build Quality
The transmitters and receiver are well-built and feel durable. The magnetic clip is a nice touch, allowing for easy attachment without damaging clothing. The charging case is robust and keeps everything organized. It’s very similar to the Apple AirPods case, except it’s massive and doesn’t have the same build quality, but it’s perfect for what it is.
Fluffy Wind Filters
I can’t emphasize enough how fluffy these wind filters are! Not only will you look like an influencer, but from a practical perspective they also significantly reduce wind noise during outdoor recordings.
Features and Specifications
Built-in Storage
Each transmitter comes with 4GB of internal storage, allowing you to record directly without needing an external device. Keep in mind that the storage overwrites when full, so it’s best used as a backup.
Noise Cancellation
The Neewer CM28 features noise-cancellation technology. But it’s awful, If this is a Requirement from your wireless mic, I would suggest the Rode Wireless range, but we’re on a budget here guys!
Stereo and Mono Modes
You can switch between stereo and mono modes on the receiver. This is ideal for podcasts or interviews, enabling separate audio channels for each transmitter.
Long-Range Connectivity
I tested the range up to 30 meters (approximately 98 feet), and the connection remained strong without any audio dropouts.
Performance Testing
Audio Quality
The audio is clear and crisp. I conducted several tests, both indoors and outdoors, and was pleased with the results. I’ve used this on my Cellar Gaming room project throughout, and it also can take a beating, this thing has been hit with plaster, sawdust and paint and still sounds great.
Ease of Use
Setup was straightforward. The devices paired automatically, and the LED indicators provided helpful status updates, but nothing too fancy.
Battery Life
Each transmitter and the receiver offer up to 6 hours of continuous use. The charging case can recharge the units on the go, I’ve used these for longer than 6 hours, though if you are a solo, you can use one mic till it dies and pop the other out of the case without disrupting the recording.

- Limited Internal Storage: 4GB can fill up quickly and overwrites old recordings.
